Membership is open to individuals who live, work (or regularly conduct business in), worship, volunteer or attend school in Horry, Georgetown, Marion, Williamsburg or the southern part of Florence County (south of Lynches River), South Carolina or Brunswick County, North Carolina.  Relatives of members may also be eligible for membership. 

Account Opening
Upon joining the Credit Union, all members – both primary accountholders and joint account holders – must deposit $25.00 each to their basic savings account.  This is not a fee but simply the minimum deposit required to keep the account open.  There is also a one-time membership fee of $5.00, and it covers both the primary and joint account owner’s membership.  Your Carolina Trust membership will never expire; in fact, you may continue to enjoy your membership benefits even if you move outside the Credit Union’s field of membership.  Several free and convenient methods of account access are available: nationwide CO-OP Shared Branch and CO-OP ATM Networks, local Carolina Trust ATMs, Mobile Banking, and Online Banking.

There are three quick ways you may apply for membership or open an account at Carolina Trust:

Online Joining the Credit Union or opening an additional account is now easier than ever with our Online Application. You may apply for membership and open most Carolina Trust accounts in one simple process.
Mail Download the Membership/Account Application. Complete the application, have it notarized and mail it along with proof of identification and any required deposit (see below) to PO Box 780004, Myrtle Beach, SC 29578-7804. Existing members wishing to open a checking or additional savings account may also contact the Credit Union at 843.448.2133, ext. 3.
Visit a Branch Stop by one of our seven convenient locations, and we will be happy to assist you personally.

Who Said You Had to Bank at a Bank?
It’s never been easier to make the switch to Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union.  You can move accounts and transfer balances from other financial institutions to Carolina Trust in just two easy steps:

  1. Complete the Membership/Account Application, indicate the services you wish to transfer from another financial institution, and complete the Account Closure Authorization form.  Depending on what you are transferring, you may need to sign the Direct Deposit Authorization form and/or the Automatic Withdrawal (ACH) Authorization form.
  2. Review the Making the Switch checklist and return the completed forms to your nearest Carolina Trust branch.
